Chamber Board Member Jacque Martin has been recognized by the San Diego Business Journal in their 16th Annual "Women Who Mean Business" Awards.
In January, Jacque Martin earned her Certified Advertising Specialist industry designation, a certification held by less than 15 percent of professionals in the promotional advertising industry. She has continued to expand her business in the current down economy. Martin has also been a mentor for many women trying to break into the industry and works with various local women's organizations.
Martin has been an inspiration to others her entire life. As the mother of a child with special needs, she has never backed down from a challenge. With Martin's determination, her daughter, Heidi, has just finishded a new two-year program at UCLA where children with special needs learn how to live independently and hold down a real job.
Martin has been a member of the board of directors of the Oceanside Chamber of Commerce for the last five years and chairs the Citizens Bond Oversight Committee for the Vista Unified School District. She has been a volunteer and coach for the San Diego Special Olympics for 14 years. She was also one of the founders of Pathway to Empowerment, a nonprofit organization that provides scholarships to young adults with intellectual disabilities to help further their education beyond high school.
