Oceanside, CA (January 28, 2010) – Boys & Girls Club of Oceanside
The Boys & Girls Club of Oceanside today announced it received federal stimulus funding from the American
Recovery and Reinvestment Act of 2009, which allowed them the opportunity to create two positions within the
organization; Marketing Coordinator and Community Outreach Coordinator.
As part of the grant application process, the Boys & Girls Club of America accepted applications from local
Clubs based on financial need and organizational and site capacity to meet grant deliverables, and their ability
to financially manage the grant and sustain operations after the grant period ends; The ARRA grant period is
October 1, 2009 to September 30, 2010.
The purpose of the stimulus funding is job preservation and creation, and funding is site specific. The Boys &
Girls of Oceanside was notified of its grant award and created the two new positions.
Rachel Amparan accepted the position of Marketing Coordinator, where she leads the brand development
strategy and interfaces with media partners to build awareness of Club services, programs, and activities. She
is responsible for fundraising activities including special events, corporate sponsorships, and the Club's annual
golf tournament. She has a wide range of national, local and non-profit experience with well-known brands in a
variety of industries.
Jessie Gunn accepted the position of Outreach Community Coordinator. Jessie's main focus is to achieve a
higher level of awareness for at-risk youth and teen involvement, and explore additional possibilities for
outreach program offerings for the Club. Jessie will be participating with outreach committees on programs
such as the Teens Talk Teens Pregnancy Prevention Video Contest, North County Gang Task Force, the
annual Teen Trade Show, and Youth of the Year. Jessie joins the organization from Alaska, with a strong
background in event planning, marketing, and corporate philanthropic support. Jessie is an alumni of William
and Mary University.
