Founded more than 30
years ago, Genentech is a leading biotechnology
company that discovers, develops, manufactures and
commercializes medicines to treat patients with
serious or life-threatening medical conditions. The
company has multiple products on the market for
serious or life-threatening medical conditions. In
March 2009, Genentech became a member of the Roche
Group, and Genentech now serves as the headquarters
for all Roche pharmaceutical operations in the
United States. Genentech's development pipeline
continues to grow, with multiple promising projects
in the following therapeutic focus areas: oncology,
immunology, disorders of tissue growth and repair,
and neuroscience. The pipeline includes both
breakthrough innovations and new indications for
existing, well-understood products that may fight
more than one disease or more than one form of a
disease.

50 years ago, few could have imagined the rural
flower fields and avocado orchards of Carlsbad,
Oceanside, and Vista would grow into the major
population and commerce centers they are today. From
its beginnings, Tri-City Medical Center has mirrored
that growth. 2011 is Tri-City’s 50th anniversary of
providing world-class healthcare to the citizens of
North San Diego County. Tri-City is a nationally
recognized hospital with a world-renowned medical
and professional staff, state-of-the art technology,
and award-winning, compassionate patient care.
Tri-City Medical Center begins the next 50 years
with major enhancements. The Cardiovascular Health
Institute is open and providing the most advanced
heart care available from comprehensive heart risk
screenings to ‘beating heart’ surgery. The
Orthopedic and Cancer Institutes will open in 2011.
The hospital has received numerous national and
regional accreditations. Tri-City is a Joint
Commission Accredited Hospital meeting the highest
national standards for healthcare quality. It is the
first nationally accredited Chest Pain Center in San
Diego County and is a San Diego County Designated
Heart Attack (STEMI) Receiving Center. It has
received the Gold Seal of Approval from the Joint
Commission for Primary Stroke Centers and the Gold
“Plus” Award for Stroke Care from the American Heart
Association and American Stroke Association.
Tri-City is home to nationally certified Pulmonary
and Cardiac Rehabilitation Centers accredited by the
American Association of Cardiovascular and Pulmonary
Rehabilitation. The American College of Radiology
awarded national certification to the radiology
center. And, the clinical laboratory is accredited
by the College of American Pathologists.
In 2008, the hospital opened the Center for Wound
Care and Hyperbaric Medicine with certified
physicians, nurses, and technicians. The medical
director is the only nationally certified wound
specialist in San Diego County and one of only three
statewide. In 2010, the Center was named Wound Care
Facility of the Year.
Tri-City offers a wide array of quality services
ranging from maternity and advanced neonatal care,
(the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit is the largest in
North County and the only NICU with a
board-certified neonatologist on duty around the
clock), to orthopedics, neurology, and advanced
interventional radiology with state-of-the-art
imaging equipment like the 64-Slice Lightspeed CT
Scanner. In total, Tri-City has physicians
representing 60 specialties and sub-specialties.
One of the most exciting recent technological
additions is the CyberKnife – a
revolutionary radiosurgery system that lets doctors
treat tumors anywhere in the body, even those once
characterized as inoperable.
In 2009, Tri-City began a bedside bar-coding
initiative, which has been shown to reduce
medication errors by more than 80%.
Tri-City has the second busiest emergency room in
the county treating about 70,000 residents annually.
It remains at the forefront in planning for regional
disaster response and in recent disasters served as
a community medical receiving center for ill and
injured patients.
Tri-City’s mission is to advance the health and
wellness of those it serves. The two-year-old
Tri-City Wellness Center in Carlsbad approaches
health and fitness from a medical perspective. The
58,000 sq. ft. facility offers a complete array of
health and fitness programs and has been named the
best gym in San Diego County two years running on
the 10News.com A*List. On the same campus in
Carlsbad, the Medical Office Building is now open
housing the second location of Occupational Medicine
and the Center for Wound Care and Hyperbaric
Medicine. Tri-City has two locations for
Occupational Medicine because the hospital
understands a healthy workforce is necessary to
achieve a healthy bottom line.
Trust the caring hands of Tri-City Medical Center
for comprehensive, advanced medicine close to home.
