 | Inspired by a near death drowning experience, Jeanette Bonds’ 14.7 PSI, is a 3:54-second animation installation of what appears to be an underwater or stellar environment. The piece attempts to create a specific and orchestrated physical response from the viewer by linearly recreating the thought process of drowning or being lost in an entirely unfamiliar yet intriguing environment. 14.7 PSI was made by taking 100 duplicates of 1 image of stars and animating them against one another while manipulating the position, hue, and opacity of each image. Animation is by Jeanette Bonds and sound by Duane Pitre. Meet the artist Jeanette Bonds as she discusses the meaning and process behind her work during an illustrated lecture on Saturday, June 30 at 12:00 p.m. Free for OMA members, students and military and complimentary with museum admission. |
