 CMA, (ATA) Black Belt Academy / Karate for Kids are proud to be celebrating our 19 th anniversary as an integral part of the Oceanside community. Our focus has always been not only to provide exceptional martial arts training, but to establish a positive mental outlook on life for each and every one of our students! Our main instructor, Master Shannon Coffee (6 th degree black belt), has been practicing Taekwondo since 1982, and is regarded as one of the foremost instructors in the Songahm style. We do however have many types of leaders at the academy, including SWAT (Superior Wining Attitude Team), Trainee Instructors, Junior Trainee Instructors, and more. All of our instructors are adult, child, and infant CPR/1 st aid certified. We have always had a firm belief that quality students come from quality instruction! Our curriculum is always progressing as each of the instructors continues training from the ATA and applying that knowledge to our academy.
Coffee’s Black Belt Academy Karate for Kids is also responsible for producing numerous state and national champions. 6th Degree Black Belt Arlene Eyerman is a Multi World Champion in Forms, Sparring and Weapons, and has been part of ATA for over 20 years. Dan Allegro is a retired Marine Corps officer and has been a part of the ATA since 1983; he went on to win the 2010 California State Champion in Forms, Sparring and Weapons. Mary Jane Berry is a 5th degree black belt and has been a part of the ATA since 1989, where she joined in Fallbrook, she has been California State Champion every year since 2005 – and was the 2007 World Champion in Forms and Weapons! We are also very proud of Ben Bancroft, who is a 4th degree black belt and won the 2004 and 2010 California State Sparring Championships. These are just a few of the high rank instructors at the studio.
