A great turnout for the Chamber of Commerce ribbon-cutting yesterday - so many folks turned up we ran out of space on the sidewalk! In addition to Chamber staff, the wonderful 'Redcoat' volunteers, Council members Gary Felien and Jerry Kern (Jack Feller came by later), there was a KOCT crew filming, Miss Teen Oceanside and an Oceanside Princess, Mainstreet Oceanside staff and lots of people with cameras! The ribbon was cut, tours of stage, sound and lighting booth and Studio 219 were given, and cookies were munched. A good day!
This Saturday, March 31 at 6:00pm is the first big fundraiser for Oceanside Theatre Company - Tom Morrow's 'OSO' Big Band in concert, wine reception at 6:00pm with the concert starting at 7:00pm. Tickets and details on the website at www.oceansidetheatre.org or call 760 433-8900. And on April 20th, the Grand Opening Gala is planned for the first show of the first season . . . Neil Simon's BILOXI BLUES, a Tony Award Winning Comedy. People can either purchase play tickets only or tickets to both the Grand Opening Gala before the play and the play itself. Tickets to the 'Gala' are $50 per person and include a premium reserved seat for BILOXI BLUES and a reception with music, champagne, wine and appetizers before the show at 6:30pm. The first play in Oceanside Theatre Company's premiere season, Neil Simon's BILOXI BLUES! will be directed by Oceanside Theatre Company Artistic Director Christopher Williams. BILOXI BLUES is part of Pulitzer Prize-winning playwright Neil Simon's trilogy - beginning with "Brighton Beach Memoirs" and concluding with "Broadway Bound". 'When we last met Eugene Jerome, he was coping with adolescence in 1930's Brooklyn. Here, he is a young army recruit during WWII, going through basic training and learning about Life and Love with a capital 'L' along with harsher lessons while stationed at boot camp in Biloxi, Mississippi in 1943.' BILOXI BLUES is produced by special arrangement with Samuel French, Inc.
