April 2, 2012–The Cardiovascular Disease Foundation® of San Diego County (CVDF) invites the community to its 9th Annual 5K Run/Walk For Life® & Free Community Health Fair at the Embarcadero Marina Park North in San Diego from 8:00 a.m. – 1:00 p.m. Sunday, April 15th 2012. Join us for a fun, family- friendly event to promote heart-healthy living for people of all ages.
The CVDF 5K Run/Walk, the Foundation’s biggest event of the year, offers participants the option to run or walk the scenic boardwalk of the Embarcadero and start and finish at the park. Check-in for everyone begins at 8:00 a.m. with the first runners starting at 9:00 a.m. The entry fee for Adults is $25 and Active duty military, fire and police and their families are $15 and children 12 and under are free. All registrants receive the new 2012 Run/Walk Tee-shirt and CVDF Tote Bag. Online registration is available at www.WalkForLife.us . Everyone is encouraged to get sponsors and to form running or walking teams to be eligible to win prizes! Team photos and prizes will be awarded for Largest Team, Most Funds Raised, and Best Decorated Banner.
The Community Health Fair, from 8:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. is free for everyone to enjoy. Join Emcee Hula Ramos from Star 94.1, Jerome Dawson & Wazabe Blue Band and Tipanie O Patitifa Tahitian Hula & Drum group for a fun filled day. There will be over 40 health service exhibitors, free food, kids’ zone, face painting, prizes and more. Complimentary health screenings such as blood sugar, blood pressure and body fat checks will be offered by the Cardiovascular Disease Foundation® (for accurate readings, please remember to fast 12 hours before receiving cholesterol or blood sugar screenings).
