 | Oceanside Museum of Art (OMA) has received a $150,000 grant from the Howard Charitable Foundation. The grant will provide $75,000 this year and $75,000 next year. This year’s installment was received May 16 and next year’s will be received in May of 2013.
Executive Director Ed Fosmire stated, "I am so very appreciative of the Howard Foundation’s investment in the Oceanside Museum of Art and I am so pleased to be able to announce this significant grant prior to my departure. This award represents the Howard Foundation’s recognition of Oceanside Museum of Art’s importance as a cultural center for North County. In addition, it sends a strong message of support for the museum’s past and future success."
The grant has no strings attached and can be used in whatever capacity the museum leadership deems appropriate.
Deputy Director Tara Smith, who will take over as Interim Executive Director later this month after Fosmire’s departure added, "I would like to express my deep thanks to the Howard Foundation. This is truly an amazing vote of confidence from them and I know they are hopeful that this award will generate additional support for and excitement about the museum."
Opened in 1995, Oceanside Museum of Art educates and inspires the public through a diverse range of engaging exhibitions and programs that connect people with regional, national and global artists and art forms of the 20th and 21st centuries. The museum is open Tuesday-Saturday 10 am to 4 pm and Sunday 1 to 4 pm. Free admission every Tuesday, general admission is $8, $5 for seniors and free for students and military.
