NCHS GOLF CLASSIC TO SUPPORT CARLSBAD HEALTH CENTER EXPANSION

SAN MARCOS, CA – North County Health Services (NCHS) will host the Fore For Kids VIII Golf Classic on Friday, August 17, 2012 at The Crossings in Carlsbad, with 100 percent of the proceeds raised to benefit the pediatric clinic of the organization’s new Carlsbad Health Center.

“We are responding the healthcare needs of our community,” said NCHS Chief Executive Officer Irma Cota. “With no room to expand in our current 1,250 square foot location, we purchased a new building to accommodate the growth and expansion of our medical services.”

The Carlsbad City Council unanimously approved a $1.13 million grant to NCHS to support the purchase of the building, with the expectation that NCHS will raise the remaining $500,000 for the tenant improvements, equipment and furnishings necessary to build out the shell and meet the requirements of delivering primary care services.

The golf tournament and all fundraising efforts in 2012 will supplement NCHS’s capital campaign to equip the 2,695 square foot “cold shell” building that will house the new Carlsbad Health Center.

“The need for affordable healthcare continues to grow.  NCHS patients are restaurant and hotel workers, veterans and their families, transitioning from the service, the self-employed, the newly-unemployed, and the list goes on,” said Cota.

Open to the public, player slots and sponsorships of the Fore For Kids Golf Classic are still available.  For sponsorship information and to register online visit www.nchs-health.org.  For information, contact Karen Pearson at Karen.pearson@nchs-health.org or 760.736.8669.
