Get answers to Medicare open enrollment questions and refresh financial know-how

OCEANSIDE, Calif. (Oct. 26, 2012)-- Tri-City Hospital Foundation, along with NBC’s financial expert and host of Money Matters, George Chamberlin, are set to host the fourth series of quarterly seminars teaching North County seniors how to stay financially and physically healthy.
The two November workshops come at a great time for seniors interested in taking advantage of the 2013 Medicare open enrollment period, which runs from Oct. 15 through Dec. 7. During open enrollment, seniors are encouraged to review their Medicare health insurance plan to make sure they have the right coverage for their needs and budget.
Advisors from the Health Insurance Counseling and Advocacy Program (HICAP), which provides free and objective information and counseling about Medicare, will attend the workshops to answer questions and help attendees understand their Medicare rights, benefits and coverage options. Chamberlin and Tri-City Medical Center physicians will also discuss many topics including fraud; credit and identity theft; estate planning; health care and its impact on seniors; health care reform; quality of life and staying healthy; and innovative technologies in medicine and the future of Tri-City Medical Center.
“During the seminars we go over crucial financial information including how often folks should be checking their credit scores, what websites are best for doing so and what each score means,” Chamberlin said.
Attendees will have the opportunity to meet physicians and ask questions about the changing health care environment, cutting-edge technologies at the hospital including robotic surgeries and new institutes specializing in cardiovascular health and orthopaedics.
The seminars will be held at two locations in Carlsbad and Vista. The first seminar will begin at 10 a.m. on Saturday, Nov. 3 at Tri-City Wellness Center, 6250 El Camino Real, Carlsbad.
The event is open to anyone who has questions about health care, financial well-being or the community hospital.
