 The City of Oceanside Quiet Zone project installs new pedestrian crossing gates at five road crossings: Cassidy Street, Oceanside Boulevard, Wisconsin Street, Mission Avenue, and Surfrider Way. The gates and railings protect people from approaching trains and safely guide them across the railroad tracks. The upgrades qualify Oceanside for a railroad Quiet Zone on its coastal rail corridor. In a Quiet Zone, engineers are no longer required to sound a train horn at each crossing.
 In 2009, the City of Oceanside adopted the Coast Highway Vision and Strategic Plan. This plan serves as a blueprint for the revitalization and enhancement of the Coast Highway corridor between Harbor Drive in the north and Buena Vista Lagoon in the south. The Vision and Strategic Plan includes several recommendations to transform Coast Highway from an auto-oriented thoroughfare into a "complete street" that serves all modes of transportation from automobiles to pedestrians to bicyclists and transit vehicles.
 The Internal Revenue Service today provided additional expanded penalty relief to taxpayers whose 2018 federal income tax withholding and estimated tax payments fell short of their total tax liability for the year.

 The annual City of Oceanside Easter Egg Hunt will be held at Mance Buchanon Park, located at 425 College Boulevard, on Saturday, April 20, 2019. The egg hunt will begin promptly at 10:00 a.m. and is free for children ages 3-11. Families are encouraged to come early. The festivities include a magic show, candy, prizes, and a special guest appearance by the Easter Bunny. All are invited to this free event with free parking.

 The Oceanside Public Library is excited to announce a single, online searchable catalog, called Link+, from which available material from other libraries statewide can be requested and delivered to your local Oceanside library location. Starting in early April, with Link+ you can borrow books, DVDs, music CDs and audiobooks on CD from over 70 public and academic libraries, and receive them at your Oceanside Library branch within 7 days or less. This cooperative resource-sharing effort brings materials from over 370 locations or branches directly to you.
 Oceanside is proud to be the host of this world-renowned event! To cheer on the participants, consider taking the event shuttle. Ironman is sponsoring a free shuttle service April 6 from 4:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. The Shuttle Service is open to participants, spectators and the general public. This easy transportation option will be perfect for those wanting to go to and from the Pier area to the Oceanside Harbor.
