SACRAMENTO – Senator Patricia Bates (R-Laguna Niguel) has announced that the California Department of Finance officially notified the Legislature yesterday on how it will allocate almost $1.8 billion from California’s share of the federal Coronavirus Relief Fund to cities and counties. The money will help fund public health, public safety, and other services to combat the COVID-19 pandemic.

The Oceanside Chamber continues to advocate for our small business community. In partnership with the Small Business Coalition, the Chamber strongly supports S. 4117, “The Paycheck Protection Program Small Business Forgiveness Act”. The act, which is sponsored by Senators Kevin Cramer, Bob Menendez, Thom Tillis and Kyrsten Sinema, would essentially forgive 100% of all small business PPP loans under $150,000. San Juan Capistrano, CA – U.S. Representative Mike Levin (D-CA) will lead a virtual town hall Wednesday with North San Diego Small Business Development Center (SBDC) Director Sudershan Shaunak and Dr. Karl Steinberg, a nursing facility medical director in North County San Diego. Rep. Levin and his guests will discuss the latest data from the Small Business Association’s (SBA) Paycheck Protection Program (PPP), COVID-19 relief priorities for local small businesses, and answer questions from constituents.
In response to San Diego County Department of Health restrictions on indoor operations for certain business types, the City’s streamlined application process is now applicable to affected businesses such as fitness centers, hair salons, barber shops and nail salons. Please select the “commercial operations” field on the application form to apply to operate in a public right of way such as a sidewalk or public parking lot, or in an adjacent private parking lot. Businesses with adjacent private outdoor space such as a patio may remain open provided operations are restricted to outdoor only and comply with industry guidance. Read more in the City's website.

Local small business and restaurant owners suffering financial losses due to COVID-19 can now apply for a grant from the County of San Diego.
OCEANSIDE, CA – The Oceanside Chamber, the Vista Chamber and the San Diego North Economic Development Council have been working hard to both feed families across the county and support our local restaurants. The North County Cares program launched last month, with a generous donation of $50,000 from Genentech. With the funds, the Oceanside Chamber and the Vista Chamber will ultimately serve an estimated 1,650 local families and benefit 30 - 35 restaurants each in both Oceanside and Vista.
With Los Angeles County beaches closed, San Diego County State Beach parking lots closed, and several Orange County beaches following suit, it was deemed prudent to close Oceanside beach parking lots for the holiday weekend in order to minimize crowded conditions, limit gatherings, increase physical distancing, and slow the spread of the coronavirus.

Commissioner’s action mandates workers’ compensation carriers reflect reduced risk of loss in premiums due to “stay-at-home” orders LOS ANGELES, Calif. — Insurance Commissioner Ricardo Lara today issued an Order adopting emergency workers’ compensation regulations in response to the COVID-19 pandemic. These new regulations will mandate insurance companies to recompute premium charges for policyholders to reflect reduced risk of loss consistent with Commissioner Lara’s April 13 and May 15, 2020 Bulletins, and will result in savings for many policyholders as businesses continue to struggle financially during the COVID-19 pandemic.
