The Oceanside Public Library invites children, teens, and adults to celebrate Summer Reading with special finale events. Summer Reading participants of all ages can earn prizes for reading, and attend many entertaining and educational events through August 10, 2019. The Summer Reading theme is, “It’s Showtime At Your Library.”
Back by popular demand, the City of Oceanside Parks & Recreation Division proudly presents the Big Band Jazz Hall of Fame Orchestra on Sunday, August 11 from 5:00 – 8:00 p.m. at the beautiful El Corazon Senior Center, located at 3302 Senior Center Drive in Oceanside. Summer is winding down - don't miss this one! Singles, couples, dancers and music lovers are all welcome to enjoy a summer night on the patio.

The Oceanside Historical Society will present a free historical program on Saturday, August 3 at 10:30 a.m. The program is hosted by the Oceanside Public Library and will be held in the Library Community Rooms at 330 North Coast Highway.
This year’s Magical Evening celebrates the 40 years of service Marva Bledsoe has given to WRC and the impact she has made in our community. In addition, we will welcome Marina Araiza as she begins her journey as WRC’s new CEO. At the event, you will hear the stories and successes of WRC clients first-hand and stand with us as we honor the achievements we’ve celebrated over the 40 years Marva has led us.

Nothing says the month of July like country music! Join us for an Adult Dance on Sunday, July 14 from 3:00-5:00 p.m. at Oceanside’s Country Club Senior Center, located at 455 Country Club Lane. Wear your country casual Western duds and stop by to say hello to longtime and new friends. Singles and couples welcome! Both line dances and couples' dances will be included in the band's repertoire. The Line Dance group from Country Club Senior Center will be on hand to show off and demonstrate some line dance moves.
We are excited to announce that the 8th Annual North County Grandparents Raising Grandchildren (GRG) Symposium will be held on Saturday, August 24, 2019 from 8:00 AM – 1:30 PM at the North Inland Live Well Center (649 W. Mission Avenue, Escondido, CA 92025)! This free community event is hosted in partnership with YMCA of San Diego County and 2-1-1 San Diego to provide information, resources and services to grandparents raising grandchildren and other relative caregivers raising young family members.
The Oceanside Public Library presents African Drum and Dance with CHAZZ and Teresa on Tuesday, July 23, 2019 at 4:00 p.m. at the Civic Center Library, 330 N. Coast Highway. Enjoy this colorful and exhilarating journey into the world of African rhythms, songs, and stories. Children and family audiences can participate in this lively presentation as either part of the drum circle with CHAZZ, African drumming extraordinaire, or as part of dance troop with gifted choreographer Teresa. This fun, interactive event is free, for kids of all ages, and is sponsored by the Friends of the Oceanside Public Library. The City of Oceanside is pleased to announce the release of its 2018 Water Quality Report. This report shows that the City system continues to meet or exceed all state and federal drinking water standards. City staff collects water quality samples to test for over 90 different substances throughout the year to ensure that the City’s drinking water meets the highest standards for quality and safety. Samples from drinking water plants and in the City’s distribution system were analyzed and reported in the 2018 Water Quality Report. “Oceanside’s drinking water is closely monitored to ensure the highest quality of water is delivered to our customers,” said Water Utilities Director Cari Dale. “Our highest priority is delivering safe and reliable water.”

The Oceanside Public Library invites children of all ages and their families to the Franklin Haynes Marionettes bilingual show, Las Marionetas en Desfile, on Tuesday, August 6, 2019 at 4:00 p.m. at the Civic Center Library, located at 330 North Coast Highway. Las Marionetas en Desfile (Marionettes on Parade), is a marionette show that introduces children to some of the traditions of Latin America as well as commonly used Spanish words.
Have you ever wanted to play with thousands of LEGO bricks? Now you can! The Oceanside Public Library invites children of all ages and their families to the STEM focused LEGO Brick Building program with Hey Hey Entertainment on Thursday, August 1, 2019 at 2:00 p.m. at Mission Branch Library, located at 3861-B Mission Avenue. Children will be thrilled to build and create with the nearly 10,000 LEGO and Duplo bricks that Hey Hey Entertainments brings to their programs.
Boys & Girls Clubs of Oceanside’s (BGCO) Inaugural Corn Hole Tournament. Corn Hole for a great cause as you compete for a highly desirable trophy and bragging rights for the year! The Oceanside Public Library is sponsoring a series of art classes for teens this summer at Studio ACE, next to the Mission Branch Library. Each class will explore a different art concept and artist, and all supplies will be provided. These classes are free of charge and open to students entering grades 6-12. Teens, get ready to Zumba this summer at the Oceanside Public Library! Zumba is a Latin-inspired fitness program that combines fast and slow movements for an interval-style, high energy dance party!
Today's seniors, from the Greatest Generation to the Baby Boomers, are young at heart! Many are active in the community, taking classes or volunteering, and they know what it takes to age well. A solid social network and regular exercise are two of the "best practices" in successful aging. And dancing has been said to improve brain health. Oceanside Senior Centers strive to promote new opportunities for all of these pursuits!
An Afternoon with Author and Succulent Expert Debra Lee Baldwin
The Friends of the Oceanside Public library, with the support of the Library and local business and community groups, will host a “Simply Succulent” event at the El Corazon Senior Center, 3302 Senior Drive, Oceanside, CA. on Saturday, May 18, from 1:00 to 4:00 pm. Guests will enjoy a complimentary glass of champagne, light refreshments, and a small succulent to take home. The Filipino-American Cultural Organization (FACO) and the Oceanside Public Library will be hosting the 18th Annual Filipino Cultural Celebration on Saturday, June 8, 2019. The event will take place in the Oceanside Civic Center Plaza, located downtown at 330 N. Coast Highway in Oceanside’s Cultural District, from 12:00 noon to 6:30 p.m. Event admission is free and open to the public.
