July 20, 2020 — GlobalGiving announced today that Studio ACE has been selected to receive a $5,000 COVID-19 relief and recovery grant from The Red Backpack Fund, an opportunity for small businesses and nonprofits made possible by The Spanx by Sara Blakely Foundation.
“My hope is that this gift will help alleviate some of the pressures caused by this horrible pandemic. Twenty years ago, I started Spanx with $5,000 in savings, and I see this as a time to pay it forward. Small business is the backbone of our culture. I know what it’s like to be a small business owner, and I want to provide some relief to these entrepreneurs during this time,” said Spanx Founder Sara Blakely. Sophia and her children joined Solutions for Change 3 years ago, after Sophia suffered through a mentally, emotionally, physically, and sexually abusive relationship. "I was falling apart on every level." Sophia was in banking but found herself unemployed and at a crossroads with her career. She had a dream to be a hair dresser and "Solutions for Change allowed me to take the time to go to school and become a licensed barber and cosmetologist. Solutions for Change has made me feel like Sophia. I am still me, but wiser, stronger and better than when I began. Before Solutions, I felt like I was losing everything, but in the end, I gained so much more."

Mangia e Bevi delivers food to the seniors instead of opening the dining room to the public Oceanside, CA June 3, 2020 – Three years ago Tore Trupiano and Ann Perham had a vision. Their vision was to open a small dine in Italian restaurant. Tore, a veteran in the restaurant industry, and Ann, amazing decorating skills, great customer service and attention to detail starting to make their vision a reality. The focus was to create an authentic Italian dine in restaurant. The emphasis was to artistically plate old world and authentic meals. In early spring we found a spot that was previously an Italian restaurant. It was in the unlikeliest of all places, in the industrial part of el Corazon. Ann quickly saw a diamond in the rough. Intimate patio dining, water fountain and a fireplace. Windows from a house built in the early 1900’s transformed the black steel fence into a Tuscan like setting. The dining room long and narrow, almost like the streets of Palermo. Rich burgundies, golden rod, black, and yellow create the setting along a beautiful wall mural of a map of Europe. Mangia e Bevi quickly won the hearts of local diners and was awarded one of the best from Ranch & Coast magazine.
