The Oceanside Historical Society hosts Downtown History Walks on the second Saturday of each month beginning at 9:00 a.m. Walks are free and open to everyone and are pleasantly paced so folks of all ages can participate. The tour takes approximately 2 hours.
Walks begin at the Oceanside Civic Center Fountain at Coast Highway and Pier View Way. (Look for the plaque commemorating Oceanside's founder, Andrew Jackson Myers!) Participants explore to historic homes, churches, and banks, three Irving J. Gill buildings, the famed “Top Gun” house, the Oceanside Pier and band shell and variety of other sites. Along your walk look for the “O.U. Miracle” on the sidewalks and curbs, there's a great story behind them, so ask your tour guide.
Through the month of September, walks will be held the 2nd Saturday of each month, and begin at 9:00 a.m. No need to phone in a reservation, just join us by the "pond"! If you have any questions you can call (760) 722-4786.
