The Oceanside Unified School District is one of 42 public school districts in San Diego County. The district consists of 23 school sites – 16 elementary schools, 4 middle schools, 2 comprehensive high schools (Oceanside High School and El Camino High School) and one alternative high school. OUSD is home to nearly 21,000 students in the Oceanside community.
The diverse student population includes about 4,000 students from Marine Corps Base Camp Pendleton. The district’s three largest student populations include Hispanic students (55%), Caucasian (27%) and African American students (8%).
OUSD employs nearly 3,100 individuals, with nearly 1,900 employees falling under the category of certificated personnel (teachers and administrators). Geographically, the district covers roughly 66 square miles in the north county.

The monies generated from this bond will allow the district to continue the modernization process for 16 campuses, a renovation program that began with the passing of Proposition G (69%) in 2000, a $125 million measure.

MiraCosta offers a strong university transfer program, including transfer admission guarantees. The college also offers career training through a variety of certificate programs ranging from one semester to two years in subjects including recording arts, social media for business, gerontology, automotive technology, multimedia, computer technology, licensed vocational nursing, biotechnology, child care, horticulture, real estate and others.
