a message from our chair
Haley Wonsley, Intesa Communications Group, Chair
2021 will celebrate the Chamber’s 125th Anniversary of stimulating economic prosperity and fostering a vibrant community! We look forward to engaging with you on the developing needs of businesses today and understanding how to better serve for years to come. As we prepare for more things like virtual events and stronger workforce partnerships it will be more important than ever to ensure we are leading with purpose and doing it together.
We have all had to overcome and persevere this past year, and the Oceanside Chamber of Commerce came through at pivotal moments for our local businesses. 2021 will continue to build on lessons learned from navigating an ongoing global pandemic, championing economic opportunity and ensuring we support business friendly candidates. We remain committed to engaging members and the community to ensure they have access and clarity to the ever-evolving COVID-19 resources, plus ongoing legislation and engagement with local, state and federal representatives.
The Chamber made history by endorsing candidates for City Council for the first time in 2020. Through the Advance Oceanside Political Action Committee, a bipartisan group, the Chamber unanimously endorsed Councilmember Ryan Keim and Councilmember Peter Weiss who both won in crowded candidate fields!
This next year is not an election year, but the Chamber remains focused on quality-of-life issues to inspire thoughtful leaders to become more involved on boards and commissions, and also explore opportunities for public office.
As a local, I am so proud to call Oceanside home. We are a resilient Chamber community, and we will continue to adapt to transformational changes. Many of us are now permanently working from home, some are going back to school, and there is an overwhelming desire to make sure we are fostering a community that is proactive and forward-thinking.
A little over a year ago, I partnered with the Chamber to create a Young Professionals Network to promote mentorship, find tactics to harness passions into advocacy and cultivate ways to inspire employers to not just employ, but be purposeful in upskilling and inspiring future leaders.
Oceanside’s economic outlook depends on our communal support of local businesses and employees, our military and families, stimulating tourism and being innovative. To prepare, this year we will put together a strategic five-year plan. What an honor to serve as your Chair of the Board of Directors.
Join us as we celebrate our community and plan for the next 125 years!
