The purpose of the Oceanside Young Professionals Network (OYPN) is to provide young professionals (suggested 40 years and under) the unique opportunities to build connections and develop professionally in addition to their Chamber membership.The Oceanside Chamber currently represents nearly 38,000 employees from over 700 member businesses. We aim to engage and inform young professionals in Oceanside through hosting team-building events, identifying volunteer opportunities and presenting workshops focused on professional development.

The Ugliest Virtual Beer Tasting Experience of 2020
The Oceanside Chamber’s Young Professionals teamed up with the Vista Chamber to host the Ugliest Virtual Beer Tasting Experience of 2020. On December 10th our young professionals took a look behind the scenes of Booze Brothers Brewing Co and enjoyed a custom beer tasting variety pack. The virtual experience also featured an interactive tasting sheet and Beer Bingo game, prizes and casual networking!
OYPN Scavenger Hunt at the Oceanside Museum of Art
The Oceanside Young Professionals Network had a fun filled Scavenger Hunt at the Oceanside Museum of Art. Our YPs worked in groups to find clues around various museum exhibits and connected with others in the area as you go along. Appetizers were sponsored by Diamond Financial Services and complimentary drinks were sponsored by Business Payroll Service.
OYPN Downtown Update with MainStreet Oceanside
Oceanside's Young Professionals met at Kilowatt Brewing for a downtown district update with MainStreet Oceanside. Kilowatt is a small batch brewery based in San Diego. Their CEO, Steve “Scones” Kozyk shared the story of their Oceanside location, which opened earlier this year and features creative lighting, interactive art, and games which pair perfectly with their small batch, uncommon ingredient brews. Gumaro Escarcega, with MainStreet Oceanside offered an inside look into future downtown developments and recently completed projects. He also shared details on the Oceanside Mural Initiative, a community driven program with goals to help our city become a destination for public art while improving the image of our downtown district.
North County Young Professionals Mixer
Young professionals from the Oceanside and Carlsbad Chambers of Commerce gathered in South O’ to learn about development projects happening in North County. Guests enjoyed local brews from Cutwater Spirits and Black Plague Brewing as well as street tacos from Dos Tierras and plant-based popsicles from The Populist. The event also featured presentations from Michael Murray, candidate for 76th Assembly District on community engagement and Integral Communities who shared details on the proposed development, North River Farms.
1ST Annual OYPN Puzzle Competition
On April 24th Oceanside Young Professionals Network Puzzle Competition held the 1st Annual OYPN Puzzle Competition as a means to involve young professionals in the Chamber and introduce them to its networking opportunities. The event was held at Stone Brewing in Oceanside where 3 teams competed head to head. The winners received a prize pack donated by Chamber members including Otterlei Coastal, Insight Oceanside, The Crimson Cake and Beach Break Cafe. Proceeds from the event went to support the Boys & Girls Clubs of Oceanside.
2019 Kickoff Event
The Oceanside Chamber of Commerce’s Oceanside Young Professionals Network kicked off 2019 with the first annual OYPN Kickoff Event at Master’s Kitchen & Cocktail. Attendees had the opportunity to network with like-minded professionals in their area over appetizers & drinks. Thanks to Marcy Browe attendees also had their headshot taken! Headshots at this event were completely free and a digital copy was sent to each individuals's email. Thanks to all who came out!
OYPN Business Tour - Solutions for Change
Thank you to Solutions for Change and CEO, Chris Megison for setting up this exclusive tour today for our Chamber's Oceanside Young Professional Network program members. Your story is truly inspiring and we cannot wait to help you celebrate the grand opening of your new Oceanside location. We're also very excited for our OYPN members to come back and volunteer! North County Young Professionals Mixer
The Oceanside Young Professionals Network and the Carlsbad Young Professionals teamed up for an evening at Pacific Coast Spirits. Not only were attendees able to meet like-minded young professionals in the area, they picked up some tips from North County San Diego’s finest financial experts, Dana Albert with Merrill Lynch and Chad Marentette with Edward Jones. Complimentary appetizers and one-of-a-kind handcrafted cocktails were sponsored by Diamond Financial Services and Business Payroll Service!
OYPN Holiday Paint N' Sip at Cynthia's Artistic Expressions
The Oceanside Young Professional Network (OYPN) spent some time at Cynthia’s Artistic Expressions for a special Holiday Paint N’ Sip. YP's learned about this newly established, veteran-owned business and networked while painting a Christmas snowman. This event will featured complimentary appetizers and locally sourced wine.
Business Over Beers at Northern Pine Brewing
The Oceanside Young Professional Network connected at Northern Pine Brewing to meet the minds behind crafting some of the finest IPAs and saisons in the San Diego area and come learn about the exciting scene here in Oceanside. Attendees heard from both Northern Pine Brewery as well as a representative from Brewery Ignitor, a turn-key brewing facility that offers an opportunity for serious entrepreneurial brewers to start a business without the startup risk of cost, time and logistics.
OYPN Mixer: Balls. Buckets. & Beers.
The Chamber’s Oceanside Young Professional Network held a fun-filled night at Goat Hill Park's driving range. Goat Hill Park provided a beautiful evening for our young professionals. Attendees got both the chance to network with one another and test out their golfing skills in a relaxed setting. The Park opened a few stalls in the driving range and supplied all equipment. CEO's Tour at The Boys and Girls Clubs of Oceanside
The Oceanside Young Professional Network took an exclusive tour of Boys & Girls Clubs of Oceanside Center for Innovation. The tour was led by CEO, Jodi Diamond and highlighted their Oceanside facility and new Center for Innovation. Jodi also discussed programs and services offered by the Boys and Girls Clubs of Oceanside.
OYPN Business Tour - Pro Kids, The First Tee of San Diego
OYPN visited Pro Kids The First Tee of San Diego at their Oceanside campus. Pro Kids is a nonprofit organization dedicated to making a difference in the lives of local children through golf. CEO, Andrew Holets led the tour starting with the 4,400 square foot Ely Callaway Golf & Learning Center and the history of the program that started with a small group of volunteers and served as a model for the PGA’s The First Tee Program before becoming a charter member. We met with an educator to learn more about structure of her classroom and how she keeps her students on task before moving onto another room to discuss the scholarships Pro Kids has to offer. Although members can participate in Pro Kids programs as soon as 7 years old, the support for members through renewable awards for college and beyond. We were surprised to learn that through their scholarship program, Pro Kids has donated more than $2 million in awards to 171 scholars to date. In addition to their those campus amenities, Pro Kids also offers a wide variety of books available to members in their library as well as a golf simulator and pollinator garden.
OYPN Business Tour - San Diego Food Bank
The Oceanside Young Professional Network toured the Jacobs & Cushman San Diego Food Bank led by their CEO, Jim Floros. The San Diego Food Bank and the North County Food Bank comprise the largest hunger-relief organization in San Diego North County. Jim walked our group through their solar powered, 90,000 sq. ft. warehouse giving an overview of their programs ranging from the Senior Food Program to the Food 4 Kids Backpack Program. Our group was also made aware of their Food Rescue program to help eliminate waste of food available for human consumption. In the same spirit of sustainability, our group was able to hear more about their composting procedures and learn that it all goes back into their mission. This organization is certainly making large impact in our region. Last year alone, the Food Bank distributed food to an average of 370,000 people per month in San Diego County! In fact, 92% of donations go directly into feeding programs within the nonprofit agency.
