FedEx Ground held its official ribbon cutting at their Oceanside Facility today. Congressman Darrell Issa, along with State Senator Patricia Bates, Oceanside Mayor Jim Wood and Oceanside City Councilmembers, Jack Feller and Jerry Kern, were on hand to celebrate with numerous FedEx officials, including District Managing Director, Tim Weber and the facility's Senior Manager, Steve Hillman. The high tech, 300,000 square foot facility employs 200 people and can process up to 15,000 packages per hour. In his remarks at the event, Chamber VP of Business Development, Scott Ashton, noted the value that FedEx brings to the community. "While this facility uses all the latest and best in technology to process our packages, we are very pleased that there is still a need for the human element, allowing this facility to provide hundreds of jobs in our community", Ashton said.
