Christopher Rodriguez from Maximum Real Estate Services recently became the first Oceanside Chamber member to graduate from the Public Leadership Institute (PLI) training program chartered by the San Diego Regional Chamber of Commerce.
The course met once a month for five months starting this past February in San Diego and on June 21, 25 members from various local Chambers received their letter of achievement for completing the program.
“Even though it was pretty intense and right to the point from the very beginning, I thought it was great and just what I needed as my foundation to get involved in local government,” Rodriguez said.

DISTRICT ELECTIONS IN OCEANSIDE
The City of Oceanside will begin the transition to District Elections in November 2018. Five community workshops were held in 2017 to determine the district boundaries, and the Oceanside City Council approved the final map at the August 1, 2017 City Council meeting. Candidates running for City Council will now be required to reside in the district they want to represent.
Districts will be phased-in during the next two election cycles. Councilmembers in Districts 1 and 2 will be elected in November 2018. Councilmembers in Districts 3 and 4 will be elected in 2020. Find your district here: https://www.ci.oceanside.ca.us/gov/clerk/elections/districtelections.asp

Souther - NRL Mortgage; Anastasia Kabitskaya, owner, Slight Edge Salon; Amanda Gerard,

Voters in the City of Oceanside will be asked in November 2018 to consider an initiative, commonly known as the SOAR Initiative, which would require public approval for any change in the zoning of land currently designated for agriculture or open space. Because most open space used for parks and recreational activities is City-owned and already requires a vote of the people for any zoning change, the Initiative primarily involves the future of the 3,340 acres of agriculturally-zoned land in the northeast part of the City known as South Morro Hills.
