Dear Neighbor, My name is Gloria Brewer; my one year anniversary of being a North County homeowner is merely weeks away, on the 27th of December. Like many residents in the last week, I faced the difficult task of narrowing down my belongings in an unexpected mandatory evacuation due to the Lilac Fire. Fortunately for my little family, we had a safe place to go and an intact home to return to. I cannot imagine there is ever a good time to have your world turned upside down, but my heart goes out to those in our community facing such turmoil during the holidays. I have teamed up with my soon-to-be wedding venue, Oceanside Factory of Dreams Hall, to host an event to give back to those who have lost everything, including their sense of normalcy. They have generously offered their event space to those needing their community now more than ever. On Friday, December 29, 2017, Factory of Dreams is opening up their doors from 6:00PM-9:00PM.
We are working diligently with local government to reach out and invite our neighbors in need. Our hope is that local businesses are able to collaborate with us to welcome the victims of the Lilac Fire. With this letter, we humbly seek assistance from local businesses to aid in providing the supplies needed to make this event a success. We are in need of food, drinks, and necessary supplies for the guests (plates, cups, utensils, napkins, etc.). Contributions for a free raffle, such as gift baskets, gift cards, and gift certificates, will help make the evening special for the attendees. If you are unable to give, but still want to support our cause, we are desperate to enlist businesses willing to host donation drives that allow patrons to leave the following items: new or gently used clothing; blankets; household necessities; hygiene products; and pet products (food, bedding, crates, and livestock supplies). In an effort to offset costs, we kindly request the ability to collect monetary donations on behalf of the event, should your business be willing. Any funds beyond incurred costs will be included in raffle offerings. All donations will be collected Saturday, December 23, 2017. Additionally, we would be indebted to those who can encourage staff to volunteer as event workers. We sincerely welcome local businesses like yours to join us and connect with the community. If you would like to be a part of organizing this event, please do not hesitate to c::ontact me. If hard copy versions of flyers are needed, I can provide those as well. I can be reached at 562-394-8453, or at [email protected] via email. View PDF Flyer. Facebook Event. Thank you for your time and consideration. I hope to hear back from you soon.
