Every Thursday Main Street Oceanside hosts two markets that shut down half of Pier View Way in order to bring fun, food and more to Oceanside. The Farmer’s Market, which is Thursday morning from 9:00-1:00, features fresh local produce all year around. In addition there are beautiful flowers and other nursery items grown locally. Merchants set up shop who have many homemade fresh goods as well which ranges from baked goods to honey, salsa, hummus, olive oils and so much more to dip in and add to your favorite foods. The food is definitely the draw of the morning Farmer’s market but there are also dozens of craft booths set up as well. Many of these booths feature handmade clothing in addition to photography and other types of art. Lastly there are hot food booths as well and some are outsourced from our favorite local restaurants; the crepes are a fan favorite! The Sunset Market is Thursday evenings from 5:00-9:00 all year ‘round... The half of Pier View Way West of Coast Highway (and some side streets) are packed with thousands of people each and every week. Tourists and residents love the Sunset Market. Each week there is live music and other entertainment in addition to a KidZone that features plenty of activities for the kids. However, the biggest draw of the Sunset Market is the one you can smell all over downtown, The International Food Court. The hot food available at the Sunset Market allows you to travel the culinary world in two blocks. There is food from America, Asia and the Pacific Islands, Hawaii, Jamaica, All corners of Europe, Latin America, Africa, the Middle East, The Mediterranean and even Australia. “Fresh and Ready Row” is a section of the Sunset market that sells take home treats. This includes, kettle corn and funnel cakes, fudge, cupcakes, Italian ice, ice cream, nuts bars and plenty more. While eating your delicious treats from around the World, it is easy to walk around and admire the “World Marketplace” which is the dozens of booths that feature crafts and art from around the globe. There are rings that would look at home on royal fingers, plates and bowls, clothing of all different varieties, musical instruments, meticulous models and many different art forms. Thursday is definitely the day to be in Oceanside. The Farmer’s Market and Sunset Market run all year around and are definitely always a treat to attend. By: Vanessa Boon Comments are closed.
