 Enhanced enforcement begins February 1 and is intended to deter further trespassing and increase safety along the COASTER rail line Oceanside, CA – Beginning Monday, February 1, 2021, the North County Transit District (NCTD) will enhance trespassing education and enforcement along the San Diego coastal rail corridor in advance of its plans to place five new Siemens Charger locomotives into revenue service on February 8, 2021. The new state-of-the-art locomotives are diesel-electric powered engines that meet that newest emission standards, Tier 4. In addition to being environmentally friendly, the new locomotives are considerably quieter than the current F-40 locomotives which is a benefit to the public but also highlights the dangers of trespassing on the railroad right-of-way.
 An extensive, 18-month renovation of the athletic track and field at MiraCosta’s Oceanside Campus has been completed, replacing an outdated track first built in the early 1980s with a modern walking/jogging track and world-class soccer/rugby and athletics field that meets size requirements for international competitions while providing additional practice space. The renovation also provided for a new, 2,100 square foot Field House with ADA-compliant restrooms, changing rooms, coaches’ offices, team rooms, and equipment storage.

Boys & Girls Clubs of Oceanside Receive Qualcomm Foundation Grant for STREAMing Ahead Program2/5/2021
 Oceanside, CA (February 2020) - Boys & Girls Clubs of Oceanside (BGCO) has received a $10,000 grant from the Qualcomm Foundation to support the STREAMing Ahead program. This grant will help encourage at risk youth to explore the world of STEM and inspire them to plan for bright futures, even in the midst of the pandemic.
 The COVID-19 pandemic is arguably the greatest public health disaster of the past hundred years. In addition to the tremendous loss of life and morbidity caused by the SARS-CoV-2 virus itself, the mental health effects of the pandemic are only beginning to be understood. This program focuses on key aspects of the pandemic on older adults' mental health, including social isolation, loneliness, depression, and suicidal behaviors. It also introduces the audience to the concept of prolonged grief and how societal aspects of the response to the pandemic have made prolonged grief likelier for older adults after the loss of a loved one. Healing milestones and factors that derail healing will be presented, along with strategies for preventing the detrimental effects of social isolation and loneliness.
