The Oceanside Public Library is excited to partner with Studio ACE to host a free series of online art talks and virtual art making activities for Older Adults in Oceanside this Spring. ACE Executive Director Julia Fister will pre-record talks that focus on different "ism’s" in Art History. Each talk will highlight one artist each month to illustrate selected movements in Art History. Then, a teaching artist will pair the theme with a live, virtual art making class (over Zoom) to further illustrate the movement. Studio ACE is an education arts space located in Oceanside with a mission of enriching lives through Arts, Community, and Education.
As the State of California considers imposing a new COVID-19 paid sick leave mandate through the budget process, the Oceanside Chamber of Commerce has joined a Cal Chamber led coalition to oppose these efforts. In an email to Assemblymember Tasha Boerner Horvath, Chamber CEO Scott Ashton wrote, " We respectfully request that the Assemblymember stand in opposition to any new requirements of this type on our business community. Planned weekend rail closure allows crews to perform rail line improvements and regular maintenance
Oceanside, CA – The North County Transit District (NCTD) will suspend all coastal rail line service between the Oceanside Transit Center and Santa Fe Depot during the weekend of February 20-21, 2021, as part of a planned schedule of rail closures that support routine maintenance and rail infrastructure work. Boys & Girls Clubs of Oceanside (BGCO), in collaboration with Words Alive, will offer a free 7-week virtual program to parents to assist them in developing their children’s reading and literacy skills Wednesdays at 4:30 starting March 3, 2021 and ending April 14, 2021.

As school closures continue, the Girard Foundation’s support ensures that low-income youth have access to the best learning tools possible.
The City of Oceanside has been working through the lengthy process of constructing railroad crossing improvements to meet Federal Railroad Administration (FRA) requirements to establish a Quiet Zone along the North County Transit District coastal corridor through Oceanside. In a Quiet Zone, active devices such as gates, signals, and railings warn vehicle and pedestrian traffic of on-coming trains in lieu of the routine sounding of their horns. Train horns will still be used in emergency situations. Cities desiring to establish a Quiet Zone are first required to mitigate the risk by updating crossings to specific standards to ensure safety.
