Fundraising event on March 11 to help expand critical services for older adult health care
SAN MARCOS, Calif. (December 20, 2022) – TrueCare™ will host its “Havana Nights” Grand Gala on March 11 from 5:30-10:00 p.m. at The Seabird Resort in Oceanside. The event, themed as “a sizzling night in old Havana,” will support TrueCare’s expanding services for older adults and seniors with complex health needs, as well as the ongoing demand for telehealth visits and quality, affordable, healthcare.

A ribbon cutting ceremony for the Grand Opening of Handel’s Homemade Ice Cream takes place on Saturday, October 8th from 11:30am to 4:30 pm. Entertainment, prizes and drawings, face painting, balloon artists and VIP guest presenters will all be part of the celebration. The store will be open for regular store hours.

One of the largest cultural events of the year, the annual the Latino Book & Family Festival, comes to MiraCosta College October 15. The event will feature over 100 exhibitors organized in villages focused on authors, children, education, food, and health, and will include more than 30 award-winning authors of works in all genres written by or about Latinos. Community organizers and organizations come together to keep the Dia de los Muertos Festival in Oceanside. Spearheaded by many and headed by Friends of Oceanside Dia de los Muertos and Chema and Manuel Navarro of Por Siempre Car Club, the festival will continue this tradition and has moved back to Downtown Oceanside where it began for its 20th celebratory year.
The One Book, One San Diego adult selection for the 2021 region-wide read is “Being Heumann: An Unrepentant Memoir of a Disability Rights Activist'' by Judith Heumann and Kristen Joiner. As part of the One Book, One San Diego programming, Oceanside Public Library will host free public screenings and guided discussion of the documentary “Crip Camp: A Disability Revolution.” The documentary will be screened in person at the Mission Branch Library located at 3861-B Mission Ave. on Tuesday, October 19 at 5:00 p.m. On Wednesday, October 20 at 5:00 p.m. the screening will be online. The Filipino-American Cultural Organization (FACO) and the Oceanside Public Library will be hosting the 20th Annual Filipino Cultural Celebration on Saturday, October 9, 2021. The event will take place in the Oceanside Civic Center Plaza, located downtown at 330 N. Coast Highway in the Oceanside CA Cultural District, from 11:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. Event admission is free and open to the public.
The Library will be offering a Citizenship Class for those eligible to prepare for the U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Service (USCIS) Naturalization Test. Classes will be held online on Wednesdays at 6:00 p.m., beginning September 29. In this class, students will learn about U.S. history and government, and prepare for the citizenship interview. Classes will be taught by a volunteer teacher who has classroom experience and training specific to the topic. Materials will be provided by the Library.
