To support Senior Housing Relief for Elders Veterans Housing Aid program the following process is to be followed. This process is being documented to ensure that we are helping our target veteran population that needs the benefit of supplemental income that Aid & Attendance will provide long-term but is waiting for benefits to be processed and provided.

Walker Senior is the November Constituent of the Month. Chaplain Walker has dedicated his life after service to supporting veterans and their families, currently serving as Post Chaplain of Oceanside Veterans of Foreign Wars (VFW) Memorial Post 10577 and Disabled American Veterans (DAV) Tri-Cities Chapter 95.
San Juan Capistrano, CA – Today, U.S. Representative Mike Levin (D-CA) announced the formation of a panel of servicemembers, veterans, and other community leaders who will work together on recommendations to name a local Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) facility after a woman veteran. The “VA Facility Dedication Advisory Panel” will compile a report on notable women veterans with ties to the region who are worthy of this honor. Currently, there are no VA facilities in the United States that are named after women veterans, and neither the San Diego VA Medical Center nor the Oceanside VA Clinic are named after an individual.
San Juan Capistrano, CA – President Donald Trump signed legislation introduced by Representatives Mike Levin (D-CA) and Phil Roe, M.D. (R-TN) to expand eligibility to receive counseling from Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) Vet Centers to members of the National Guard, Reserves, or Coast Guard who served during emergency situations, such as a major disaster, civil disorder, or drug interdiction operation. The Vet Center Eligibility Expansion Act is the fifth bipartisan bill from Rep. Levin that has been signed into law by the President.

VCC built this monthly webinar in response to requests from San Diego veterans, military and spouses wanting to examine local career opportunities. The San Diego Small Business Development Center will be hosting a workshop on Wednesday August 5, 2020 from 3:00 p.m. – 4:30 p.m. for all minority owned businesses. This event is aimed at informing all minority business owners and entrepreneurs on some of the COVID-19 pandemic business relief resources available at the federal, state, and local level. SBDC will also share how they are able to help small businesses acquire capital and a variety of other services they offer. It is important to inform our minority owned businesses now more than ever on the different resources available to help their businesses during these challenging times.

This Veterans Day San Diego County Supervisor Bill Horn is hosting his annual Veterans Forum on November 8th from 9:00am to 11:00am at the North Inland Live Well Center. This year we are celebrating Vietnam Veterans in addition to all veterans, their families, and military/veteran community members. This will be Supervisor Horn’s final forum so we hope you can join! We will serve light refreshments prior to our exciting program, which consists of three dynamic speakers. We have special giveaways for our veterans and attendees in addition to over 30 non-profits participating in the Resource Fair! We invite all veterans, active duty servicemembers, military/veterans service providers, military/veteran families, community-based organizations, and community members to attend.
