Oceanside, CA – The North County Transit District (NCTD) invites the public, city officials, and other interested parties to attend the November 21, 2019 Special Meeting of the Board of Directors that will begin at 1:00 p.m. The Special Meeting will provide key updates regarding the status of zero-emission bus (ZEB) technologies and NCTD’s specific implementation plans, as well as presentations from NCTD’s ZEB implementation consultant STV, Inc., regarding the state of ZEB technology and NCTD’s implementation plan. Additionally, the Special Meeting will include a presentation from the Chief Executive Officer of Alameda-Contra Costa Transit District (AC Transit), Michael Hursh, regarding their Hydrogen Bus Program. An electric bus from the San Diego Metropolitan Transit System (MTS) and a hydrogen fuel cell bus from the SunLine Transit Agency will be on display from 12:30 p.m. to 2:00 p.m. at the NCTD General Administration Office located at 810 Mission Avenue, Oceanside.
Board of Directors approves contract after nationwide search, starts new era The San Diego County Water Authority Board of Directors today approved a contract with Sandra L. Kerl to be the new general manager of the region’s wholesale water agency, following a months-long national search. The Board approved the contract in open session during its regular monthly meeting at Water Authority headquarters.

This free 9-week OTC Youth Outreach program for Boys & Girls Clubs of Oceanside members, ages 5-17, culminates in four performances for family, friends and the general public at the Brooks Theater, home to the Oceanside Theatre Company. I am always looking for ways to support our military, veterans, and their families. At our Board meeting on Tuesday, I put forth a letter that supports military spouses who work for the County by helping them maintain certain benefits if they have a gap in employment due to their spouses’ military orders. A County employee, Diane Alvarez-Harder, who is also a military spouse, brought this change in policy to our attention!
The City of Oceanside is seeking nominees for the 2020 Martin Luther King, Jr. Community Service Award. This annual award honors residents of the City who have made a significant contribution of time and energy to improve community life, promote positive community development, and enhance the lives of individuals and neighborhoods in the City. The award especially recognizes volunteer work and activity done outside of a work setting and over a long period of time. The award is named in honor of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. in recognition of the contribution that he and others made to promote positive relationships between people, groups, and cultures.
