SACRAMENTO – Senator Patricia Bates (R-Laguna Niguel) applauded Orange and San Diego Counties for securing housing funds to assist young adults in foster care find suitable housing. The California Department of Housing and Community Development oversees the Housing Navigators Program (HNP) which allocates approximately $5 million in grants to counties based on each county’s percentage of the total statewide number of young adults aged 18 through 21-year-old in foster care. SACRAMENTO – The California Department of Housing and Community Development awarded the Counties of Orange and San Diego $1,158,277 from the 2021 Emergency Solutions Grant (ESG) program which provides funds for a variety of activities to address homelessness as authorized under the federal Homeless Emergency Assistance and Rapid Transition to Housing (HEARTH) Act of 2009. SACRAMENTO – Senator Patricia Bates (R-Laguna Niguel) has announced that the California Department of Housing and Community Development (HCD) has awarded more than $4 million to local governments in Orange and San Diego Counties to fund housing-related projects.
The referendum seeks to overturn approved zoning that allows 585 homes to help ease the City of Oceanside’s and the State of California’s severe housing crisis OCEANSIDE, Calif. (August 4, 2020) – As California’s housing crisis deepens, perpetuating the state’s nearly last place ranking for producing housing, a new farm-based community known as “North River Farms” in Oceanside, California is being challenged by a referendum. The community, planned around workforce housing with 50 percent priced for FHA financability, is being challenged by a referendum which directly conflicts with state housing law. Instead of putting families in homes this November, opponents seek to have voters use ballot box planning to overturn the zoning change already approved by the City of Oceanside.
