Washington, D.C. – Today, the U.S. House of Representatives passed the bipartisan Restoring Hope for Mental Health and Well-Being Act, a comprehensive bill to address mental health care and substance use disorder. The bill includes Rep. Mike Levin’s (D-CA) legislation to improve sober living homes by authorizing a federal study on the quality and effectiveness of recovery housing and to identify recommendations to strengthen the quality of recovery housing. The provisions come from Rep. Levin’s Studying Outcomes and Benchmarks for Effective Recovery (SOBER) Homes Act.

Investments Would Fund Road Improvements, Water Infrastructure, Public Safety, and More Oceanside, CA – Today, U.S. Representative Mike Levin (D-CA) announced he has secured $50 million in federal funding legislation to invest in 15 local projects and priorities. That total includes $7 million to help the North County Transit District (NCTD) improve SPRINTER service, $7 million to improve infrastructure for pedestrians and cyclists on Lomas Santa Fe Drive, $4.48 million to enhance the Mobile Crisis Response Team (MCRT) program in San Diego County, $3.47 million to invest in the Orange County Intelligence Assessment Center (OCIAC), and more.

Over the last 20 years, what once was the safest place for our children – school – has turned into a place of constant worry and questionable security. In the face overwhelming grief over the tremendous loss of life at Robb Elementary School in Uvalde, Texas, it feels like we have arrived at a time where school shootings and mass killings are the norm. With school and public venue safety at the top of our minds, I want to remind San Diegans of the efforts the District Attorney’s Office has undertaken to prioritize school safety and to emphasize the critical role the public plays in preventing school shootings. An electric vehicle shuttle pilot program serving Downtown Oceanside will officially begin operations on Monday, June 13. The “gO’side” five-passenger electric shuttles will run from 10 a.m. to 10 p.m. every day. Shuttles can be hailed via the “Ride Circuit” smartphone app and choosing “Oceanside” as the location, or by flagging down a shuttle in an area that is safe to stop for passenger boarding. The service will be free initially; however, based on ridership, a nominal fare may be instated at a later date.
Rep. Mike Levin Secures $5.2 Million to Advance the San Luis Rey River Flood Protection Project6/21/2022
Oceanside, CA – Today, U.S. Representative Mike Levin (D-CA) announced he has secured $5.2 million from the Army Corps of Engineers to make progress on the long-stalled San Luis Rey River Flood Protection Project, which is designed to provide flood protection for the surrounding community. The funding will be used for the geotechnical investigation of levees and environmental coordination, levee repair design, hydrology updates and hydraulic analysis, and the monitoring of both water quality and local species. Rep. Levin previously secured the authorization for the funding as part of the Water Resources Development Act (WRDA) of 2020.
The City of Oceanside Planning Division will host a community forum on farmland conservation strategies, with a focus on farmland conservation easements.
