Community Health Center Fulfilling its Role to Provide Equitable Access to COVID-19 Vaccine for Underserved Communities

TrueCare™ is providing easy and equitable access to the newly approved COVID-19 vaccine for children ages 6 months and older through its community healthcare centers, especially for the diverse communities who are underserved in North San Diego County.

“COVID-19 is now one of the top five leading causes of death in children six months to four years,” says TrueCare’s Chief Medical Officer Dr. Marie Russell. “The COVID-19 vaccine has been proven to be safe and effective in protecting not only our kids, but our families and our communities, and preventing severe disease such as long COVID, hospitalizations, or multi inflammatory syndrome and death.”
 
At TrueCare, anyone can make an appointment for a free COVID-19 vaccination, booster or additional dose at the organization’s locations in San Marcos and Mission Mesa Pediatrics in Oceanside, regardless of insurance status.
 
Getting a COVID-19 vaccine for children 6 months and older is easy and free at TrueCare. “Our community health center’s main focus is to provide access, especially for those parents and caregivers within our diverse communities who have a more difficult time getting appointments due to long or non-traditional work hours,” Russell adds. 
 
TrueCare was established with the belief that healthcare is a right that everyone deserves. To fulfill its mission, the health center works tirelessly to get quality medical services and programs to the most vulnerable and low income populations of San Diego, including agricultural workers, seniors, youth, single moms, and LGBTQ, to name a few.
