Boys & Girls Clubs of Oceanside Honors Supporters at 5th Annual Board Installation Breakfast9/6/2019
Oceanside, CA (SEPTEMBER, 2019) – On Thursday, September 5th, Boys & Girls Clubs of Oceanside (BGCO) held their 5th Annual Board Installation Breakfast to recognize and honor individuals, organizations and corporate partners for their commitment and dedication to the Club over the past year and to induct the 2019-2020 Board of Directors. With over 50 community members in the audience, City of Oceanside Mayor, Peter Weiss, pinned the incoming Board of Directors, and Ruchi Warrier, Director of Organization Development from Boys & Girls Clubs of America, read the official Board Oath of Office. Gigi Gleason was installed as Board President. The following community members will also serve as leaders for the Board of Directors in the 2019-2020 year: Bob Botkin, Tom Garcia, Jennifer Kreml, Michael Klein, Robbie Hass, Tori Fishinger, Pablo Holguin, Roseanne Kiss, Joan Llanes, and Donal Yasukochi. New board members include: Mary Gleisberg, Albert Nyman, Anne Speraw, and Barbara Vogelsang.
2018-2019 Committee Members were also recognized at the breakfast: Scott Ashton, Outreach David Doria, Planned Giving; Jessica Dorsett, Audit; Winston Elton, Finance & Facilities; Kelly Kimbrel, Outreach & Gala; Scott Kreml, Facilities; Chad Marentette, Finance; Kathy Naylor, Program & Personnel; Beverly Randolph, Gala; Jay Williams, Audit; Jeremy Wilson, Finance & Facilities; Haley Wonsley, Outreach. Previous Board Members Vignette Matthews and Sharon Schultz were also honored for their service. Awards were presented to individuals and organizations who support the mission of BGCO and the youth in Oceanside. The Community Partnership Award was presented to Oceanside Chamber of Commerce in appreciation of their support, dedication and commitment to BGCO. “The Oceanside Chamber of Commerce has been a fabulous friend to the Club,” said Jodi Diamond, CEO. The Corporate Partnership Award was presented to LA84 in appreciation of their substantial donation of time, talent and resources to BGCO. “We are eternally grateful for LA84’s generosity and support in upgrading our gym floor to wood. Their generosity allowed us to have this spectacular court,” said Diamond. The Community Impact Award was presented to individuals in appreciation of their substantial donation of time and resources to BGCO. This year’s award went to the Oceanside Police Department (OPD) for their ongoing support of the Club and dedication to the Oceanside Youth Partnership, a collaboration between OPD and BGCO which provides mentorship to at-risk youth. “Chief McCoy & OPD have been tremendous partners to our Club. We love our OPD men and women.” Lastly, the Jeremiah Milbank Award, Boys & Girls Clubs of America’s highest award, was presented to Robert Botkin, Laura Galinson, Gigi Gleason, Herb Solomon & Elaine Galinson and Mary Jo Young. The award is named after a life-long volunteer, Jeremiah Milbank who personified extraordinary, long-term concern for youth and those in difficult circumstances. The Legacy Club provides national recognition to individuals who have named Boys & Girls Clubs of Oceanside in their estate plans. Gigi Gleason and Jennifer Kreml were honored for their support and participation in the Legacy Club, ensuring great futures for youth in Oceanside. The Chairperson’s Award was presented to Tori Fishinger, who has gone above and beyond as an ambassador of the Club in meeting the roles and responsibilities while serving on the Board of Directors. Robert Botkin, outgoing Board President chose Ms. Fishinger for this honor. “Tori has been on our board a short two years, but in that time her work has been invaluable. She adds a much needed millennial perspective to the board and has taken on the monumental task of chairing our 32nd Annual Boys and Girls Night Out Gala,” said Botkin.
