Vote YES on B - March 3, 2020

The Oceanside Chamber of Commerce is proud to endorse YES on B – the Better Choice Measure – which will appear on countywide ballots in the March 3, 2020 election. Mail-in ballots will be arriving in mailboxes soon if they have not already!

Voting YES on B provides San Diego County residents with a better choice for the development of private property in North County that will be developed one way or the other. Up to 2 million square feet of commercial space and 99 estate-style homes are allowed under the current County General Plan. Instead of the general plan designation, voting YES on B would approve 2,135 homes, 60 percent of which will be affordably-priced for working families.

That is why the Chamber supports voting YES on B.

This project was unanimously approved by the San Diego County Board of Supervisors after being thoroughly studied and refined through an open, public process. Unfortunately, narrow special interest groups behind a nearby $10,000-a-week luxury spa spent millions to referend the Board of Supervisor’s approval of this community, and now we need your help.

We are proud to join the growing list of organizations in support of this project. We encourage you to vote YES on B to:

• Create 2,135 critically-needed homes for working families.
  
• Prioritize more than 500 homes in the community for first responders, veterans, emergency medical technicians, military personnel and teachers, through a legally-binding covenant.
  
• Provide 60 percent of the homes in the community as affordably-priced for working families like yours, required through a legally-binding covenant, helping those who work in San Diego live in San Diego.
  
• Create more than 200 units of affordable housing for very low- and low-income families.
