Local Dignitaries to Speak on October 21 at The Friends of the Oceanside Public Library Celebration10/20/2021
In honor of the Friends’ 50th Anniversary and National Friends of Libraries Week, the Friends are promoting sales of their memberships on October 21 beginning at 10 a.m. at the Oceanside Farmers Market, located at the corner of Pier View Way and North Coast Highway. Friends of the Oceanside Library President Chris Wilson will be joined by speakers including Oceanside Mayor Esther Sanchez, Oceanside Councilmember Kori Jensen, 76th District Assemblymember Tasha Boerner Horvath, and a representative from Congressman Mike Levin’s office.
Attendees who purchase Friends memberships starting at $10 during the celebration will receive a free Oceanside Public Library car sunshield (while supplies last.) Other giveaways include candy and free Friends bookbags (while supplies last). The all-volunteer Friends are weekly participants at the Farmers Market, hosting a booth where they sell donated books and other items as part of their fundraising efforts to support the Library’s programs, special events for all ages, and the purchase of books and other materials. The mission of the Friends of the Oceanside Public Library is to support and promote the services and resources of the Oceanside Public Library through community involvement, volunteer activities, and fundraising.
