Chamber's rising star program draws media coverage

On November 28th, the Chamber hosted its Rising Star Student of the Month program with the recognition of four local high school students. The Chamber's Rising Star Program aims to champion students that have overcome significant challenges in their lives while managing to keep on track with their education. The Chamber honors one high school senior each month from each of our area high schools at a monthly breakfast event.​

​Jeff Zevely, host of CBS 8’s The Zevely Zone, was in attendance to do a story on the event. Zevely is known for highlighting positive news stories in the region and called the Rising Star Program a winner. The segment is scheduled to run December 6th on CBS 8 and CW San Diego. A key element of the Rising Star program is the funding of scholarships for the students. The Chamber Foundation currently has $32,000 in scholarship funds to distribute next Spring.
