First Friday Art Walk Oceanside is partnering with the SpringHill Suites by Marriott and Camp Pendleton Toys for Tots, for the 5th annual Tree Lighting Ceremony to kick off the holiday season, while illuminating the art community here in Oceanside on Friday, December 6th from 5:00pm-9:00pm. “This will be our largest Art Walk event of the year with over 70 artists registered to exhibit and we are excited to house the Art Walk in a single location. This will be the last Art Walk event until next April and is particularly timely as we head into the holiday season looking for those unique, locally created gifts for our family and friends,” says Susan Brown, president of the Oceanside Friends of the Arts.
Doors will open at 5:00pm and the tree lighting ceremony will occur at 6:00pm. Guests are encouraged to bring a new, unwrapped toy donation for Camp Pendleton Toys for Tots. Local artists, dancers, live music, Hello Betty’s chef and much more are participating. Holme Estate Cellars, located in downtown Oceanside, will be offering free wine tastings during Art Walk. They will be featuring a Harvest Special Blowout Wine Sale of a $1 bottle with the purchase of two bottles of any of their California and Australia wines, including free shipping in California. Featured Art Walk Artist Jeffrey Jenny began his dream of becoming a professional artist in middle school when he took a field trip to Hanna-Barbera Studios where he realized his passion for art could also be his career. After graduating from Art Center College of Design in Pasadena, Jeffrey was picked up by Disney Worldwide Publishing. He’s illustrated over a hundred different titles for Disney and Pixar, and has done some freelance work for other companies like Dreamworks and Matel. His true passion is wildlife art and his most recent publication, “Drawing at the Zoo: A Collection of Animal Drawings from Life” is a self-published book of his own drawings. As a wildlife artist Jeffrey travels around the country painting and gathering reference material. From zoos, national parks, to all sorts of great local hiking locations. Although most of the painting he does takes place in his home studio, he also enjoys air painting outdoors. Living in Oceanside gives him access to some of the most beautiful landscape painting spots. Jeffrey enjoys selling his work alongside other talented Oceanside artists at each First Friday Art Walk. His work is also available at Afishinados Gallery on Catalina Island, at the Cabrillo Marine Aquarium, on his Etsy Shop, as well as his website. You can purchase “Drawing at the Zoo” at the Art Walk for a local’s only price, but it is also available for purchase on Amazon. Jeffrey does commissioned work as well, like the giant Pacific octopus the state of California commissioned for a tower at Carpinteria State Beach. About The Oceanside Friends of the Arts The Oceanside Friends of the Arts, a Non-Profit 501c3 Foundation, was established in 2016 with the goal of promoting Oceanside and surrounding communities as an important arts, culture, entertainment and tourism hub/destination that catalyzes economic prosperity and a high quality of life for Oceanside’s future. The Oceanside Cultural District was recently selected as one of California’s 14, premier state-designated cultural districts by the California Arts Council. The California Cultural Districts program aims to leverage the state’s artistic and cultural assets. Fund-raising proceeds will go to support First Friday Art Walk and scholarships for high school graduates to further their art education. Comments are closed.
