The City of Oceanside Water Utilities Department is hosting a virtual public meeting for the Loma Alta Wetlands Enhancement Project. The project area is located between Coast Highway and Pacific Street in South Oceanside, adjacent to Buccaneer Beach Park. The purpose of the project is to expand coastal wetland habitat, improve water quality and encourage outdoor recreation through trails and educational signage. Planning work is funded by a grant from the State Coastal Conservancy The public meeting will be held virtually through Zoom™. All interested members of the community, environmental and nonprofit organizations are encouraged to attend. The presentation will begin promptly at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday, September 17, 2020.
This is the third public meeting associated with the project. A presentation will be given that describes how prior public input and technical studies were incorporated into the preferred wetland restoration design. Additionally, attendees will be provided information on how to review and provide comment on the project’s forthcoming environmental documentation to comply with the California Environmental Quality Act (CEQA).
