The MiraCosta College Concert Chorale and Chamber Choir join together to perform masterpieces by iconic composers from “The Seventies”—1770s, 1870s, and 1970s. Audiences will enjoy Mozart’s classical melodies of the 1770s, Brahms’ romantic textures from the 1870s, and some surprises in choral writing from the 1970s. Preview performance on Thursday, November 21, 7:30 p.m., Silent auction/ costume contest (Best ’70s Attire) on Friday, November 22, 6:30 p.m., and Concert at 7:30 p.m. Classical Music Majors in Concert This performance showcases outstanding students in piano, voice, and instruments in the Classical Music Program at MiraCosta College. Accompanied by Dr. Michael Munson. Monday, November 25, 7:30 p.m. MiraCosta Symphony Orchestra Celebrate the season with the MiraCosta College Symphony Orchestra and choirs as we present two nights of music for the season. The stage will be set to entertain all ages and audiences will enjoy a variety of music, from Handel’s Messiah to favorite holiday classics. This 75-minute concert is performed without an intermission. Directed by Branden Muresan. Wednesday, December 4, 7:30 p.m. and Thursday, December 5, 7:30 p.m. Frequency Winter Concert The DownBeat award-winning, Frequency Vocal Jazz Program, will feature ensemble repertoire, as well as performances by selected soloists. Many songs will be selected from the Great American Songbook and performed either a cappella or with our student rhythm section. Directed by Matt Falker. Saturday, December 7, 7:30 p.m. MOJO & the Jazz Collective The MiraCosta College jazz bands share the stage for this one-night event. MOJO, DownBeat 2017 Community College National Winner, and the Jazz Collective will perform music by renowned past and present composers and arrangers, including student and faculty works. Sunday, December 8, 7:30 p.m. Pop Ensemble/Jazz Music Majors This performance showcases the top jazz and commercial music majors along with some of MiraCosta College’s jazz faculty. Directed by Dan Siegel and Terry Carter.
