The MiraCosta Community College District has posted a Notice to Contractors for construction of the new Student Services Building at MiraCosta College’s San Elijo Campus. Interested general contractors are encouraged to review the following information to see if the project is a good fit for their firms. Description: The project includes the construction of a new, single-story 10,200 square foot building that will house Student Services, Administration, Testing Center, Bookstore, and ancillary spaces. Relocation of existing utilities, landscaping, exterior flatwork, and a new ADA-compliant student drop-off are also part of the project scope.
License Requirement: B Engineer’s Estimate: $9,557,000 Mandatory Pre-Bid Conferences: Bidders must attend the final mandatory job walk on July 2, 2019, at 2 p.m. Should a bidder not attend, their bid will be rejected, as the walk is a material requirement of the contract. Prospective bidders are asked to meet at the San Elijo Campus, Building 900, in Conference Room 926. Prequalification: General Contractors are required to be prequalified for this project, and should submit the project-specific prequalification questionnaire to the District no later than 4 p.m. on Tuesday, July 9, 2019. A completed hard-copy form may be mailed or delivered in person to the capital improvement program office, located in Building T120 at the Oceanside Campus, 1 Barnard Dr., Oceanside, CA 92506. The form is not required for project subcontractors. Bid Due Date: Bid submissions are due no later than 2 p.m. on Tuesday, July 30, 2019, to MiraCosta College Facilities, Oceanside Campus, Building 4200 Conference Room, located at 1 Barnard Dr., Oceanside, CA 92056. Each bid must conform and be responsive to the contract documents, which are available at http://miracosta.edu/administrative/purchasing/measuremmbids.html. Other bid opportunities are posted on this page as they are advertised. Construction Timeframe: The project is expected to go to the District’s Board of Trustees for approval at its August 15, 2019, meeting, allowing for construction to start by the end of August. The project is expected to be complete by late September or early October 2020. The project is funded through MiraCosta’s capital improvement program, using funds from Measure MM, the $455 general obligation bond approved by voters in 2016.
