The MiraCosta College Theatre Department presents Love/Sick written by John Cariani. The play opens on Thursday, October 3, at the MiraCosta College Theatre (Bldg. 2200), located at 1 Barnard Drive, Oceanside. Eric Bishop will direct. A darker cousin to Almost, Maine, John Cariani’s Love/Sick is a collection of slightly twisted and completely hilarious short plays. Set on a Friday night in an alternate suburban reality, this romp explores the pain and the joy that comes with being in love. Full of imperfect lovers and dreamers, Love/Sick is an unromantic comedy for the romantic in everyone.
“I directed John Cariani's other play, Almost, Maine, in 2016 and thoroughly enjoyed the experience,” explains director Bishop. “His next play, Love/Sick is much more complex, adult, nuanced, and relatable.” Performance dates are scheduled for October 3, 4, 5, 10, 11, and 12, at 7:30 p.m. and October 6, 12, and 13, at 2 p.m. General admission is $16; seniors/staff, $13; students, $11. A preview performance is scheduled for October 3 at 7:30 p.m. Tickets for the preview performance are $11 for all seats. Children under the age of 5 are not admitted to the theatre. Seating is reserved. Tickets are available online or by calling the MiraCosta College Box Office at 760.795.6815.
