MiraCosta College Theatre Presents The School for Scandal The MiraCosta College Theatre Department presents The School for Scandal written by Richard Brinsley Sheridan. The play opens November 9 at the MiraCosta College Theatre, located at 1 Barnard Drive, Oceanside. Tracy Williams will direct. Lies, deceit, fake news, manipulations, malice, and outrageous fun! The School for Scandal (1777) was the most frequently performed play of its time and continues to be in the top five English comedies of manners. Richard Brinsley Sheridan’s searing comedy begins as a bunch of upper-middle-class gossips amuse themselves, and one another, by spreading malicious rumors. With the birth of the newspaper industry, they spread their fake news far and wide. Come and see the antics of Snake, Sir Backbite, Careless, Sir and Lady Teazle, Lady Sneerwell, and Mrs. Candour, as they’ll have you rolling in your seats.
Performance dates are scheduled for November 9, 10, 15, 16, and 17 at 7:30 p.m.; and November 10, 11, 17, and 18, at 2 p.m. General admission is $16; seniors/staff, $13; students, $11.
