- Great news for Fallbrook! At the board meeting on Tuesday, the BOS approved the final funding for Don Dussault Park, which will include a picnic area, recreational area and playground! The estimated completion date is summer 2020! (Pic Attached)
- When I was elected, North San Diego County was in a behavioral health crisis with the suspension of Tri-City Hospital’s Behavioral Health Unit. We have modernized our approach and are investing in “new behavioral health models” that will help serve the North County and provide the kinds of services that our communities need most. We are adding, Community Based and extremely accessible Crisis Stabilization Units to Oceanside and also working towards a second in the City of Vista. We have made recent investments at Tri-City hospital to establish a new Psychiatric Health Facility with 16 beds to address more acute illness along with the behavioral health investments already made at Palomar Hospital. I am very pleased with this forward progress and what a difference 10 months can make.
- On Friday, I was part of the ribbon cutting ceremony for Cal State University San Marcos Extended Learning Building. I’m really looking forward to seeing how this will help the students at CSUSM!
I am always looking for ways to support our military, veterans, and their families. At our Board meeting on Tuesday, I put forth a letter that supports military spouses who work for the County by helping them maintain certain benefits if they have a gap in employment due to their spouses’ military orders. A County employee, Diane Alvarez-Harder, who is also a military spouse, brought this change in policy to our attention! 11/7/2019 01:05:50 pm
Since I'm a 75 year admirer and 30 years supporter of Veterans, I love what you do for them, dear Jim Desmond, THANK YOU!
