Vista Community Clinic (VCC) announced the opening of a new dental clinic at 1910 Mission Ave., near downtown Oceanside, on July 6th. This will be the organization’s 4th clinic in Oceanside, and 9th overall location. Opening a new office for patients amid a pandemic has not been an easy task, but the clinic has put forth the best safety protocols possible. Keeping patient health and safety a top priority, VCC is working with the building’s architect and HVAC system to make sure air from the operatories aren’t going into the waiting room. “We are doing all that we can to make sure our new office is as safe as possible for staff and patients in every aspect, including airflow,” says clinic manager Dean Bao. All staff will also be using the highest level of personal protective equipment, following CDC guidelines, regularly disinfecting common areas, chairs, and equipment, and providing patients with face coverings when they do not have one of their own.
The inside has also been strategically designed by VCC’s Chief Dental Officer, Dr. Rebecca Cornille, with the patient in mind. A spokesperson for the clinic had this to say about the interior: “by adding activities for kids, soothing images and sounds, and tvs in the ceilings, we’ve put a lot of effort into trying to create an experience that patients would appreciate, at any age, when visiting the dentist.” While any hands-on activities are being put on hold during COVID-19, the clinic looks forward to still giving children and adults a positive experience while at the dentist. VCC: Mission Pediatric & Family Dentistry will be open Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, and Friday, from 8:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m. and on Thursdays from 10:00 a.m. – 7:00 p.m., and will offer services to patients of all ages. The new dental office is conveniently located within walking distance of two other VCC health centers – VCC: Horne and VCC: Pier View, giving patients the option to get comprehensive health and dental care in the same neighborhood. They will also be accepting Medi-Cal, easing the burden for many local residents that hold this insurance.
