Organization founded this year helps to subsidize housing and support for seniors
CARLSBAD, Calif. (Nov. 11, 2022) – Senior Housing Relief for Elders (SHORE), a new nonprofit to help subsidize housing and support for seniors, has launched its first program aimed at aiding senior veterans to find housing ahead of Veterans Day. The Veterans Housing Aid Program is currently available for qualifying senior veterans in San Diego County.
SHORE was founded this year by Sue Farrow, the founder and owner of Integral Senior Living. Since Farrow first set foot in a senior housing community at age 25, she has loved the senior housing industry. She’s helped grow several senior housing companies over the years, including her own, which now operates more than 100 senior communities nationwide.
“My dream is for all seniors to have access to quality housing and services, regardless of their income,” Farrow said. “I see every day how much positive impact a senior housing community can have on our elders’ lives. I’m committed to making that more accessible through my new nonprofit, SHORE.”
The Veterans Housing Aid Program is launching in San Diego County, and SHORE plans to expand the program to the rest of California and the United States in the future. Veterans interested in applying for aid should meet a few basic requirements. SHORE has partnered with other nonprofits that can help ensure applying veterans meet the following requirements:
