October 12, 2018 Contact: Darlene Cossio [email protected] OCEANSIDE CURBSIDE DONATION MONTH STARTS NOVEMBER 1 AND ENDS NOVEMBER 30 City of Oceanside and Waste Management invite residents to donate large items and clothing benefiting Goodwill San Diego during month-long CurbUp Program. Just in time for the holiday season, the CurbUp Program will be offering Oceanside residents the opportunity to donate reusable items as well as clothing to Goodwill San Diego from the comfort of their home via curbside pick-up provided by Waste Management. The program will run from November 1 through November 30. “Helping keep valuable items out of local landfills by supporting the reuse of materials is one way we can help both people and the environment,” said Daniel Butler, Municipal and Community Affairs Manager with Waste Management of North County. “Through this program, residents can make good happen in the community as their items will be given a second life by Goodwill.”
During the month of November, residents may donate up to eight bulky items by contacting Waste Management at 760-439-2824 to schedule the pick-up at least 2 days prior to their regular collection day. “We created the CurbUp Program to remove obstacles that can make donating a challenge,” said Darlene Cossio, Director of Communications for Goodwill San Diego. “Donors want to help but they don’t always have a truck available to transport large donations.” The CurbUp Program is in addition to the City of Oceanside’s residential curbside bulk item pick-up service which offers residents 3 free bulk pickups per year at no cost. Most desired donation items include: All clothing, shoes and accessories Household furniture Videogame systems, including handheld Sporting goods This program does not accept white goods or mattresses. For more information about acceptable items contact Waste Management customer service at: 760-439-2824.
