Dr. Wendy Stewart is Rep. Levin’s Constituent of the Month. Washington, DC – Today, U.S. Representative Mike Levin announced that Dr. Wendy Stewart, Chief Inclusion, Diversity, Equity and Accessibility Officer at MiraCosta College and long-time educator, is the February Constituent of the Month. Dr. Stewart serves as the inaugural interim Chief Inclusion, Diversity, Equity, and Accessibility Officer at MiraCosta College where she has worked for more than a decade including her previous role at the college as Dean of Counseling and Student Development. She has spent over 25 years in education, helping to better the lives of students throughout the San Diego region. Dr. Stewart is a fierce student advocate who throughout her career has helped students access higher education and achieve their goals. Prior to working at MiraCosta College, Dr. Stewart served as an academic counselor at UC San Diego, the Transfer Center director at San Diego Miramar College, and the Dean of Counseling and Enrollment Services at Grossmont College. Dr. Stewart has conducted research on diversity courses and service learning and has presented her findings at several national conferences, in addition to having her research published. Dr. Stewart was honored by the North San Diego County National Association for the Advancement of Colored People (NAACP) during the organization’s Salute to Women of Color Awards in 2016. She was recognized alongside MiraCosta College President Dr. Sunita “Sunny” Cook for her accomplishments and community leadership. Dr. Stewart was selected as Constituent of the Month for her dedication to improving student outcomes and years of academic achievements. Last month, Rep. Levin visited MiraCosta College Technology Career Institute (TCI) to announce $1 million in funding for the Institute. The $1 million investment, secured by Rep. Levin in the recent government funding legislation passed by Congress in December 2022, will create hands-on training courses to prepare students for jobs in high-skilled occupations in engineering, manufacturing, and biomedical equipment. TCI will use the funds to create programs that utilize new technology to prepare a future-ready talent pipeline. See below for Rep. Levin’s statement recognizing Dr. Wendy Stewart in the Congressional Record: “M.
