SACRAMENTO – Senator Patricia Bates (R-Laguna Niguel) thanked the California Department of Forestry and Fire Prevention (CAL FIRE) for funding local fire prevention projects that will help protect communities across California. “California must do everything it can to reduce the risk of wildfires and I am encouraged by the bipartisan effort to provide fire prevention grants to local communities,” said Senator Bates. “I am pleased to have played a role in making these grants possible as the Legislature and Governor approved Senate Bill 85 earlier this year to provide funding. I will continue to ensure that communities in my district receive their share of state funding.” CAL FIRE’s Fire Prevention Grants enable local organizations such as fire safe councils to implement activities that address the risk of wildfire and reduce wildfire potential for communities.
