TrueCare's Dr. Marie Russell and Tracy Elmer Honored as Top Women of Influence in San Diego

San Diego Business Journal honors leaders for improving health care access and outcomes in underserved communities.

San Marcos, Calif., March 29, 2023 - TrueCare, a nonprofit community health care organization serving North San Diego and South Riverside County, is proud to announce that two of its leaders, Dr. Marie Russell and Tracy Elmer, have been recognized by the San Diego Business Journal (SDBJ) as Top Women of Influence for 2023.

Dr. Marie Russell, Chief Medical Officer and Chief Operations Officer at TrueCare, has been named one of SDBJ's Top 50 Women of Influence: 50 Over 50. 

Dr. Russell has earned this honor for several reasons. She has extensive knowledge and contributes significantly to increasing access to quality health care. In addition, she has championed the improvement of health outcomes for underserved populations with a historic disadvantage to health care access. Her outstanding achievements in 2022 include the implementation of various health care programs, medical provider retention and recruitment, as well as improving health equality for all patients regardless of race, age, and income level.

Tracy Elmer, Chief Innovation Officer at TrueCare, has been named one of SDBJ's Top 50 Women of Influence in Technology for 2023. 

Elmer is dedicated to improving patient health care and care team experiences through innovation by implementing the latest technology and tools for patient and workflow efficiencies. In the past year, Elmer strategically aligned technology transformation initiatives to support TrueCare's mission of better health and wellness for all. In fact, her tech-savvy guidance has propelled TrueCare to unprecedented milestones in technology innovation for a community health care center of its size.

Dr. Russell and Elmer remain focused on making a positive impact on the community and combating inequities that exist not only in health care but in other critical areas of life. The organization is dedicated to creating a healthier, more equitable future for all.
