Western Sierra Law School has provided affordable and accessible legal education to students in San Diego since 1979. During the pandemic, like other institutions, the law school transitioned to online learning to mitigate the risks of COVID-19 and decided to close its central San Diego facility. Recently, as cities within the county began to allow businesses to reopen, the law school explored potential locations for its new physical facility and found the city of Oceanside to be a favorable location.

Oceanside, CA – U.S. Representative Mike Levin (D-CA) will tour Frazier Farms on Monday and hold a press conference to discuss his Stop Child Hunger Act, legislation that would provide families who have children eligible for free and reduced-price school meals with an electronic benefit transfer (EBT) card when school is not in session. Yesterday, the House Education and Labor Committee added a provision in its portion of the Build Back Better Act that makes similar investments to those outlined in Rep. Levin’s legislation. Rep. Levin will be joined at Frazier Farms by San Diego Hunger Coalition President and CEO Anahid Brakke, Oceanside Unified School District Superintendent Dr. Julie Vitale, and others.
Oceanside, CA – Today, U.S. Representative Mike Levin (D-CA) introduced the Studying Outcomes and Benchmarks for Effective Recovery (SOBER) Homes Act. The bill requires a federal study on the quality and effectiveness of recovery housing, including the availability of high-quality recovery housing, and state, tribal, and local regulation and oversight of recovery housing. The bill directs the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration (SAMHSA) to enter an arrangement with the National Academies of Sciences, Engineering, and Medicine (NASEM) to conduct the study.

The company's annual Community day donates 10% of sales and guest donations to a local partner who both encourages and supports an emphasis on the necessity for youth sports. To date, the BWW Foundation has raised over $22 million and has provided over 1 million kids an opportunity to play sports. The initiative, which is traditionally held in April, was postponed due to COVID-19. This year, Community Day will help celebrate and support the return of youth sports. The referendum seeks to overturn approved zoning that allows 585 homes to help ease the City of Oceanside’s and the State of California’s severe housing crisis OCEANSIDE, Calif. (August 4, 2020) – As California’s housing crisis deepens, perpetuating the state’s nearly last place ranking for producing housing, a new farm-based community known as “North River Farms” in Oceanside, California is being challenged by a referendum. The community, planned around workforce housing with 50 percent priced for FHA financability, is being challenged by a referendum which directly conflicts with state housing law. Instead of putting families in homes this November, opponents seek to have voters use ballot box planning to overturn the zoning change already approved by the City of Oceanside.
