Beginning Friday, May 1, everyone must wear face coverings anywhere in public that they come within 6 feet of another person. The face coverings can be as simple as a scarf, a bandana, or a homemade mask. Health experts emphasized that covering your face is not a substitute for social distancing and continued hand-washing. Hiscox has pledged $2 million to support small businesses now, when it is most needed. The support is made through the Hiscox Foundation USA, a non-profit corporation which supports social and humanitarian initiatives, and will go to established organizations that are providing support to businesses in the wake of COVID-19.

At its April 22, 2020 meeting, the Oceanside City Council approved a $1.18 million allocation for a Business Loan Program that provides gap-funding to local small businesses whose operations have been negatively impacted by COVID-19-related health orders. Funding for the program comes from the City’s General Fund interest earnings.

Over the past couple of weeks, the Oceanside Chamber has been working with a regional coalition of North County Chambers to ask Treasurer-Tax Collector, Dan McAllister to have late payment penalties waived for those that have been impacted by Covid-19 and were unable to make their property tax payments by the April 10th Deadline.
