On Thursday, October 29th , 2020, the North County Food Bank will host their North County Food Bank 2020 Community Champion Awards: A Salute to Our COVID-19 Heroes. Join us as we gather to honor and recognize our partners and North County heroes during the COVID-19 pandemic, and celebrate the contributions they have made in our community since mid-March. This celebratory evening will include a North County Food Bank update from our CEO Jim Floros, as well as a heartfelt thank you and salute to the amazing individuals, companies, organizations and volunteers that have gone above and beyond during these unprecedented times. Videotaped from our North County facility, we invite you to virtually join and pay tribute to those who have made the biggest impact in feeding and supporting our North County community! This event will help raise funds for the North County Food Bank during these times of need.

Oceanside, CA (August 25, 2020)-Boys & Girls Clubs of Oceanside (BGCO) has received a $5,000 grant from the Oceanside Charitable Foundation to purchase a commercial freezer for their Culinary Arts Teaching Kitchen. The freezer will increase food storage capacity for the Culinary Arts Program, which is especially important as the Club continues to provide an Emergency Food Program for youth.
Vista, CA – A virtual "Magical Mystery Tour," a take on the Beatles' classic album, will kick off an online, fun-packed fundraiser from 6:30-7 pm on September 26th to benefit Vista Community Clinic (VCC). Established in 1972, VCC has evolved over the years to become a federally-designated Community Healthcare Center serving Southern California.
Boys & Girls Clubs of Oceanside Receive David C. Copley Foundation Grant for Culinary Arts Program8/19/2020
Oceanside, CA (August 18, 2020) - Boys & Girls Clubs of Oceanside (BGCO) has received a $4,000 grant from the David C. Copley Foundation for its Culinary Arts Teaching Kitchen. During the COVID-19 pandemic, the Culinary Arts Teaching Kitchen has pivoted to include an Emergency Food Program, which provides curbside pickup of meals to at-risk community youth affected by food insecurity.
Oceanside, CA (August 5, 2020) - Boys & Girls Clubs of Oceanside (BGCO) has received a $703 grant from the San Diego County Employees’ Charitable Organization (CECO). Support from CECO was utilized to replace BGCO’s roll up door to our equipment closet in our gymnasium, which was in dire need of updating.
July 20, 2020 — GlobalGiving announced today that Studio ACE has been selected to receive a $5,000 COVID-19 relief and recovery grant from The Red Backpack Fund, an opportunity for small businesses and nonprofits made possible by The Spanx by Sara Blakely Foundation.
“My hope is that this gift will help alleviate some of the pressures caused by this horrible pandemic. Twenty years ago, I started Spanx with $5,000 in savings, and I see this as a time to pay it forward. Small business is the backbone of our culture. I know what it’s like to be a small business owner, and I want to provide some relief to these entrepreneurs during this time,” said Spanx Founder Sara Blakely. Sophia and her children joined Solutions for Change 3 years ago, after Sophia suffered through a mentally, emotionally, physically, and sexually abusive relationship. "I was falling apart on every level." Sophia was in banking but found herself unemployed and at a crossroads with her career. She had a dream to be a hair dresser and "Solutions for Change allowed me to take the time to go to school and become a licensed barber and cosmetologist. Solutions for Change has made me feel like Sophia. I am still me, but wiser, stronger and better than when I began. Before Solutions, I felt like I was losing everything, but in the end, I gained so much more."

Oceanside, CA (July 7, 2020) - Boys & Girls Clubs of Oceanside (BGCO) has received a $7,500 grant from San Diego Gas & Electric (SDG&E) to support their STREAMing Ahead program during the summer months. During the temporary Club closure due to the COVID-19 pandemic, BGCO continued to provide exciting, virtual STREAM (Science, Technology, Research, Engineering, Arts, and Mathematics) enrichment to underserved youth each day.
OCEANSIDE, CA – The Oceanside Chamber, the Vista Chamber and the San Diego North Economic Development Council have been working hard to both feed families across the county and support our local restaurants. The North County Cares program launched last month, with a generous donation of $50,000 from Genentech. With the funds, the Oceanside Chamber and the Vista Chamber will ultimately serve an estimated 1,650 local families and benefit 30 - 35 restaurants each in both Oceanside and Vista.
After a long pause in our resident intake, Solutions for Change just welcomed 15 new families! Their “Serve to Solve” projects support families through specific parts of their Solutions journey.
The North County Food Bank will be hosting their annual Drive Out Hunger Golf Classic at the Shadowridge Golf Club in Vista on July 20th. This event is a great opportunity to bring the community together and have taken every precaution necessary to ensure safety for all attendees. If you're looking to get involved, a business or organization can sponsor a hole for as little as $500 which includes signage, and show their commitment and support to the community. Proceeds from the tournament will go back to North County Food Bank support and COVID relief. SACRAMENTO – The California State Senate today approved Senate Bill 934 by Senator Patricia Bates (R-Laguna Niguel) that would eliminate filing fees for non-profit organizations applying for a state tax exemption. Senator Bates authored SB 934 in partnership with the Franchise Tax Board (FTB).

BGCO has been providing meals to the community’s youth since May 4th, offering fresh-made lunches and snacks to children under the age of 18. Due to this generous funding, BGCO will continue to provide curbside lunch pick up throughout the summer. Since beginning the program, BGCO has served over 12,000 meals and snacks.

Since beginning the program, BGCO has served over 10,000 meals and snacks.
The Governor would not allow us to do our annual ceremony so we have come up with a wonderful alternative!
